Are you a mac monkey?
April 29th, 2009 | by ecadman |The world of 3D modelling is a thrilling one. No, really. Or at least it is for the professionals who really understand every software upgrade and relish a Zaha Hadid or Frank Gehry style challenge.
For everyone else, it can be a bit of a pain.
But in these times, when everyone is desperate for jobs and year out placements, it is all too easy for junior staff and Part 1s and 2s to become mac monkeys, creating 3D renderings for projects they will never get credit for.
Yes, you might be the only person in the practice with a working knowledge of 3D modelling software, but take a step back, put your foot down and make sure you are getting to do the work you need for your CV.

I think the process of making and remaking 3d models almost the same as making and remaking models by hand and is the best process to understand and work on architecture.
This process give the architects the oportunitie to understand and visualize their projects like we coudn’t before.

Universities are judged by their ability to place students in practices. Thus focus is placed upon making students appealing to employers & encouraging development of presentation and 3d visualisation skills is undoubtedly part of that agenda.
There is no requirement to give year out students a variety of work experiences. Other activities require attention or supervision and training from other senior members of staff to encourage skills malnourished at academia.
3d visualisation when outsourced is expensive. Using the year out student is the most cost effective solution, and it also allows in-house control over the output – tweaks and last minute edits without the additional charges.
As the article suggests, the majority of senior architects are incapable of drawing in a contemporary style using computers. This is the origin of all of these problems.
