Fantastic Norway
July 1st, 2009 | by awinston |Surrealism and architecture don’t often go hand in hand. There is little that is really surreal about most buildings, whatever some of the more high-minded architecture critics might argue.
But the rather appropriately named Fantastic Norway seem to be on a one practice mission to change all that and prove that Norwegians have a sense of humour at the same time.
We were especially entertained by the practice’s appearance at the DMY Festival in Berlin, which saw Fantastic Norway staff dress up as their most recent project - a group of high rise buildings on the west coast of Norway – and walk around the city.

Berlin has seen many strange things, but walking houses on the U Bahn is still fairly unusual.
Check our Dezeen for more on Walking Berlin and the rather pleasing Cardboard Cloud project.
In these days of tight budgets and minuscule expense allowances, it is unlikely that News Junkie will be visiting Norway soon. So let’s hope that Fantastic Norway will visit the UK soon - if nothing else they could show some of our slightly po-faced young practices a thing or two about getting noticed.
