The best architectural stories elsewhere on the web

The ipad and architects’ websites

January 28th, 2010 | by awinston |

Is there anyone left in the Western world who doesn’t know Apple released a new product today? But how much do architects really care…

Well, enough to spend some time mocking up visualisations involving the new ipad apparently.

This concept deisgn for an interactive ipad wall was created by Australian practice ClarkeHopkinsClarke and featured on the unofficial Apple weblog. At around £300 a title, it strikes us as a little expensive for a Library project. But who are we to cast doubt on such a speedily designed response to the new must-have gadget?

Meanwhile on Twitter there has been some satisfied sounding tweets from those who are fed-up with the ridiculous flash-programming used on so many architects websites that make them pretty but intensely frustrating to use.

Construction blogger BuildingBlog (@bldgblog) summed it up nicely: “Part of me thinks that the iPad not supporting Flash is sweet justice for every architect website that will now be unviewable on the device,” he tweeted.
