Zaha Hadid reveals more about Zaha Hadid

Someone mentioned in passing the other day that they can’t remember seeing an issue of bd that didn’t mention Zaha Hadid. It’s certainly true that Hadid  gets an awful lot of media coverage for someone who has built so little in the UK.

But Hugh Pearman nicely sums up the reason us journalists love her. And the opening of her Chamber Music Hall space-within-a-space as part of the Manchester Festival has shown us again why Hadid is incredibly good value both in terms of making an architectural statement and providing some seriously entertaining quotes.

Knocking down Mies and Russia’s Olympics

Apparently, Russia is ahead of schedule for delivering the 2014 Winter Olympics site. Fingers crossed it’s more Bird Nest than Broadcast Centre.

And one Chicaho tribune blogger argues that it’s ok to known down a Mies building because it’s not so pretty – blasphemy or a fair point?
